Vivoce was founded in 2003 as the Revels Singers, a SATB group singing madrigals and other traditional music. Originally formed as an outreach group, they performed at farmer’s markets, the Portland Rose Festival and other events. By the fall of 2005 the group had only 6 women’s voices and no men’s voices so it was decided that they would continue on as an all women’s choir.
Today, ViVoce’s 21 member all women chorus performs 2 concerts a year in January and June under the direction of Jamie Webster. The concerts have evolved to feature folk music from around the world, poetry and storytelling.
